About the role:

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for leading and executing Merchant West’s sales strategy to drive revenue growth, expand market presence, and achieve sales targets across all regions. The role oversees regional sales teams, ensuring alignment with the Group’s strategic objectives and consistent execution of sales initiatives.
The Regional Sales Manager plays a key role in building a strong sales pipeline, developing high-performing sales teams, and strengthening client relationships across the country. The role works closely with distribution, marketing, and business unit leaders to ensure effective go-to-market execution and delivery of tailored financial solutions to clients.


Main Accountabilities:

  1. Financial Performance
  • Achieve personal and team new business turnover targets for the financial year.
  • Monitor actual performance against targets and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Drive client engagement and deal closure through CRM-listed opportunities.
  • Track and report on deal status including pending, approved, lost, and signed deals.
  1. Sales Activity & Cadence
  • Ensure sales pipeline equals 300% of monthly sales budget; work-in-progress equals 500%.
  • Oversee submission of required credit applications by team members.
  • Monitor supplier and client meeting activity (minimum 20 per month via CRM).
  • Identify and record cross-selling opportunities (minimum 2 per month via CRM).
  1. Sales Support & Enablement
  • Streamline administrative processes to improve sales team efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain sales enablement tools and content.
  • Proactively identify and resolve sales process bottlenecks.
  • Support lead qualification and prioritization to enhance conversion rates.
  1. Team Leadership & Development
  • Foster collaboration and support within the sales team.
  • Promote accountability for team outcomes and performance.
  • Coach team members to improve sales skills and results.
  • Build a positive and motivating team culture to drive engagement and success.


Qualifications
:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification or professional certification (advantageous).


Experience
:

  • Minimum 5–7 years in sales or business development, preferably within asset finance or corporate sales.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding financial year sales targets.
  • Experience in leading and managing sales teams.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
